These ski chalets have been picked for their family-friendly credentials. From toddlers, young kids and teenagers, these chalets are geared up to entertain them all.

There are lots of things to consider when booking a family ski holiday. Remembering which equipment to bring, lessons to book, which ski-passes to get. But one of the best ways to minimise stress while you’re out there (beyond letting us organise all that for you) is to book a catered luxury chalet.

There’s nothing quite like arriving home after a day’s ski to a meal already cooked for you, in a chalet that’s kitted out for the whole family.

Here are some of our favourite family-friendly ski chalets that were made for kids to stay in.

Chalet du Crêt

Where: Val d’Isère, France

Sleeps: 12 Adults

Type: Catered/ self-catered

Chalet du Cret play room with fake grass and rock climbing wall for kids

Not many mountain chalets can boast a playroom complete with climbing wall, but Chalet du Crêt can. Previously a cheese farm run by local monks, this beautiful mountain chalet has oodles of charm and space to let the kids play.

There’s a downstairs TV cinema room and lounge with a snug seating area sure to keep them busy for hours. The playroom-den is the real highlight though, with fake grass, toys and a mini climbing wall to keep them occupied if they (somehow) still need to burn off energy after a day’s ski.

Located only a five-minute drive from the nearest piste and Val d’Isère resort centre, this could be an excellent choice if you’re skiing with younger children.

Chalet Le Tigre

Where: Verbier, Switzerland

Sleeps: 8 Adults + 6 Kids

Type: Catered

Chalet Le Tigre kids bedroom with double bunk beds

Chalet Le Tigre, which sleeps up to 6 children and set out over five floors, is a kid’s play paradise. The open-plan layout, homely decor and 14-seater dining room table make Le Tigre a very sociable ski chalet.

The dedicated cinema room is a real highlight, the perfect place to host younger kids or teenagers for film night.

While you rest in the private spa, let the kids make the most of their own bedroom-cum-play-area with six beds and bunks, flat-screen TV and ensuite bathroom.

Private parking in the underground garage (no scraping ice off in the morning!) accommodates four cars, making it an ideal option for a group of families driving.

Chalet Marie Schnee

Where: St Anton, Austria

Sleeps: 11 Adults + 4 Kids

Type: Catered/ Self-catered

Every room in Chalet Marie Schnee has been fitted and kitted-out to the highest standard. One of the first things to say about this chalet, though, is that it’s extremely spacious. The property is sprawled across 550m, with 7 sweeping bedrooms, vast living-dining area and an expansive playroom.

Cosy enclaves, lined with fur and plenty of books will keep older children happy, if not the cinema system and TV room. And the double bunk bedroom (with each bunk kitted out with reading lights) is a cosy place for little ones to rest their heads after a hard ski.

Only a five-minute walk to the nearest lift and slopes, this is a brilliant option for families with toddlers and younger children.

Chalet Debussy

Where: Morzine, France

Sleeps: 8 Adults + 6 Kids

Type: Catered

This rustic, traditional-style chalet is a magical place to spend a week in the mountains with the family. There’s a reason why Chalet Debussy was named by The Telegraph as one of the 10 most beautiful chalets for 2018 to 2019.

Filled with cosy nooks and crannies, like the mezzanine bedroom only accessible by ladder, for the kids to enjoy some quiet time reading. Or perhaps some Netflix in the private TV snug while they unwind. Either way, at night, stargazing from the sweeping private balcony (with hot tub) is in order.

The layout of children’s bunk room is great for young kids, where they can treat every night like it’s a sleepover. Only a six-minute drive to Le Lindaret Gondola, you can let your private chauffeur organise drop off in the morning and pick up after ski school.

Chalet Nyumba

Where: Verbier, Switzerland

Sleeps: 12 Adults + 4 Kids

Type: Catered

Chalet Nyumba kids room

This spacious chalet has a lot to offer by way of keeping the kids entertained. For starters, check out the cinema room, complete with Sky TV, projector screen and an extensive collection of DVDs. Move through the chalet and you’ll find an entire playroom filled with wooden toys, games and camping tent.

Nyumba is filled with nooks and crannies to explore and play in, as well as authentic alpine wood bunk beds when the time comes to rest their heads.

The other good thing about Chalet Nyumba? A portion of the money raised from every booking goes to the UK-registered Give a Future Foundation, supporting education projects for orphans and vulnerable children in Ethiopia.
