VERBIER –
We still have some fantastic chalets still available, and with selected catered chalets you will get a late Christmas present and 2 days free guiding/instruction with me! Both on and off the snow there is a great buzz around town at this time of year, come mix with the locals and experience the end of the year from Place Centrale, or join us in the T bar or Farinet for the most fun.
The next day we will make the most of the quiet pistes and enjoy the fresh mountain air, once the legs had had enough head to a charming swiss restuarant for some fondue and a cheeky glass or two of fendant and once we get back to town you will find the party still going!
THE ARLBERG – St Anton & Lech
Generally regarded as one of the best areas for early season snow in the Alps, if you are looking for a more relaxed vibe look to Lech but if you are after a big send off to 2019 turn to St Anton. Head for the ‘White Ring’ and enjoy 22km of blue and red runs which will get those ski legs nice and warm.
Lech traditionally greets the New Year with a spectacular acoustic firework display – uniquely choreographed firework effects in synch with the music. This hugely successful event takes place on the Edelweissplatz Zürs on New Year’s Day at 10 p.m. In St Anton the bavarian apres culture usually takes over earlier in the day and the place to be is the Mooserwirt and try pace yourself.

VAL d’ISERE –
On New Year’s Eve the ‘Festi Light’ show lights up the heart of the village. The main street is magically transformed into a snow covered pedestrian zone, where the many twinkling lights transport you to a dreamlike world of fantasy with jugglers, musicians, DJ’s, ice sculptors. There are also a number of fireworks display’s to enjoy from the snow front, or your hotel balcony.
THE 3 VALLEES – Courchevel & Meribel
Has long been a favourite for the British skier, much like St Anton & Lech, these two resorts offer the same access to the huge 3 vallees ski area whilst both offering you a slightly different vibe.
La Croisette in Courchevel will have live music and entertainment for all, followed by a magical firework display at midnight, and dance party with a live DJs. In Meribel the best place to be is in the centre by the Tourist Office square.
ZERMATT –
Almost all hotels and restaurants plan a special ‘gala dinner’ for New Years Eve. Just let us know what type of cuisine you are looking for and we can sort the rest. After dinner you will then want to head to the church square for midnight, you will find a big crowd, music & fireworks. Tip if you are wearing your favorite jacket watch from slightly further afield as it can get a bit wet with all the drinks being excitedly passed around!
MEGEVE –
Probably the most picturesque resort in the festive season, it has years of tradition here from the moment the tree is lit up in early Decemeber the town is in full festive spirits. There are number of fantastic hotels and chalets here stilla vailable for NY, though one word of warning that the ssnow conditions the past few seasons haven’t been the best.
The traditional torch-lit processions by the Megève ESF ski instructors kick off the New Year festivities in an extraordinary ambiance. You can also keep out the chill with mulled wine for adults and mulled apple for children, then head back for a super dinner and enjoy the last bits of 2019.
