For a long time, Tignes sat in the shadow of its neighbour, Val d’Isere, in terms of its catered chalet options. However, this has very much changed in recent seasons and there is now a handful of fantastic ski-in/ ski-out, catered chalets and lodges to choose from. Many visitors to the Espace Killy region ski in Tignes because of its glacier, making this as snow-sure a resort as you can get.
The resort is an ideal choice for families, with a nursery ski area located right in the middle of town. From here, the progression is seamless with a speedy modern lift system enabling you to get around the mountain with ease. The focal point of the resort is the lake in the middle (you can even test your resilience to the cold and go ice-diving.)
For the more able skier, the Le Sache black run down to Tignes Les Brevieres is a must. Ever thought of trying some cross-country skiing? Here you will find 44km of good introductory trails.
