New Year’s Eve in Verbier
We still have some fantastic chalets still available, and with selected catered chalets you can enjoy a late Christmas present and 2 days FREE guiding and ski instruction with Rory.
Both on and off the snow, there’s a great buzz around town during this time of year. Come and mix with the locals and usher in the New Year from Place Centrale, or join us in the T bar or Farinet for some serious celebrations.
On New Year’s Day, you can make the most of the quiet pistes and the fresh mountain air (an unrivalled hangover cure). Once the legs have had enough, head to one of our favourite charming swiss restaurants for some fondue and a cheeky glass (or two) of fendant and, once we get back to town, you’ll find the party still going on!
New Year’s Eve in Zermatt
Almost all hotels and restaurants plan a special gala dinner for New Year’s Eve. Just let us know what type of cuisine you are looking for and we can sort the rest. After dinner you’ll want to head to the church square for midnight, where you’ll find a big crowd, music and fireworks to top off the celebrations.
TIP: If you’re wearing your favourite jacket, watch from slightly further afield as it can get a bit wet with all the drinks being excitedly passed around!
New Year’s Eve in Lech & St Anton
Generally regarded as one of the best areas for early season snow in the Alps, if you’re looking for a more relaxed atmosphere, look to Lech. But if you’re after a raucous celebration and a big send-off salute to 2019, turn to St Anton. Head for the White Ring and enjoy 22km of blue and red runs to get those ski legs nice and warm.
Lech traditionally greets the New Year with a spectacular acoustic firework display – uniquely choreographed firework effects in sync to the music. This hugely popular event takes place on the Edelweissplatz Zürs on New Year’s Day at 10 pm. In St Anton, the bavarian après-ski culture usually carries over to early the next day and the place to be is the Mooserwirt (so do try and pace yourself!).
New Year’s Eve in Megève
Probably the most picturesque resort to visit during the festive season, Megève is steeped in tradition, and from the moment the tree is lit up in early December, the town is in full festive spirit. There are number of fantastic hotels and chalets here still available for New Year’s, though be warned that the snow conditions over the past few seasons haven’t been the best.
The traditional torch-lit processions by the Megève ESF ski instructors kick off the New Year festivities in extraordinary style. Keep out the cold with mulled wine for adults and mulled apple juice for children, then head back for a delicous dinner and savour the last of 2019.
New Year’s Eve in Val d’Isère
On New Year’s Eve, the Festi Light Show lights up the heart of the village. The main street is magically transformed into a snow-covered pedestrian zone, where the many twinkling lights transport you to a dreamlike fantasy world with jugglers, musicians, DJs and ice sculptures. There are several fireworks displays to enjoy either from the snow front or your private hotel balcony.
New Year’s Eve in Les Trois Vallées
Courchevel and Meribel have long been favourites for the British skier, and, much like St Anton & Lech, these two resorts offer the same access to the huge 3 Vallees ski area while offering you a slightly different celebratory experience.
La Croisette in Courchevel offers live music and entertainment for all, followed by a magical firework display at midnight as well as a dance party with live DJs. In Meribel, the best place to be is in the centre by the Tourist Office square.
