Toit du Monde
About Toit du Monde
Chalet Himalaya is a unique haven in ski heaven. An old soul married sensitively to the most luxurious modern comforts imaginable, Himalaya is a former monastery, dating from the 17th century. Situated on the piste it is a landmark building of the charming un-spoilt hameau of La Daille in Val d’ Isere.
Entering Chalet Himalaya, a pair of majestic carved antique doors greets the visitor in a white marble and stone hall. These open onto a stylistic paradise where light and dark marble mix with carved and painted wood, glass and stone contrast with abundant furs and antique pieces to create a seductive ambience, which is both impressive and warm.
Original features such as the massive fireplace and the stunning window stone seats (where monks would have sat and read till daylight faded) are enhanced by modern ornamental features and state of the art facilities. There is the movie screen, which appears at the touch of a button. Then there is the invisible swimming pool, which can pop up between the dining area and the cigar room where guests can relax after sampling the delights prepared by their chef.
The magnificent Chalet Toit du Monde was converted from a 17th Century French Monastery. This historic building in Val d’Isere underwent a 3-year multi million pound renovation, which was completed in 2007. Since then it has continued to be lovingly maintained and improved on a year-to-year basis. Many original features still remain, including the impressive 1.5-meter thick stonewalls.
The chalet now offers 4 suites, 2 of which are dual level and allow the option of adding an extra bed on the lower level for an additional charge*. Guests will have every need and desire catered to by your dedicated staff from chef to chauffeur, host to beauty therapist. Each en suite double bedroom has a giant hand-carved marble bath, which transforms into a hammam (steam room) enclosed by glass walls.
Chalet Toit du Monde has its own concealed pool, which appears at the touch of a button with dual functionality of indoor/ outdoor swimming and Jacuzzi jets. With sauna, spa therapy room, ski room, private wine cellar and cigar room, the chalet is the ultimate luxury winter haven.

Part of the Espace Killy ski region, Val d’Isere is a popular resort for British skiers. The vast ski area offers terrain for all abilities, with over 300km of pistes and excellent snow coverage. Not for the faint-hearted, the confident intermediate or advanced skier can take on the infamous ‘Le Face’ run, which used to function as the Olympic downhill course, and one to visit if you really want to make those legs burn. There are also two nursery areas near the centre of town, making this a great destination for families.Explore Val d’Isère
